What are the stages of repipe?
When it comes to maintaining the integrity of your home’s plumbing system, a comprehensive re-piping might be necessary, especially in homes with aging or outdated pipes. At Precise, we have streamlined the re-piping process into four distinct stages to ensure efficiency and minimize disruption to your daily life. Each stage is meticulously designed to address every aspect of the re-piping process, from preparing the site to making the final touches that restore your home to its original condition. Here’s a brief overview of each stage we undertake to renew your plumbing system effectively:
Stage 1 – Drywall Containment
In this initial stage, we implement stringent dust control measures by constructing a sealed enclosure around the work area using plastic sheets. This “tent” is designed to trap dust. We employ a high-efficiency particulate air (HEPA) filter vacuum to maintain negative pressure within this enclosure while cutting the drywall. Additionally, we mist the plastic with water to capture any lingering dust particles, ensuring that the environment remains pristine. Our approach is as if we were working in our own homes, with no tolerance for mess.
Stage 2 – Pipe Replacement
Our focus during this stage is the complete overhaul of your home’s plumbing system. We replace all outdated or malfunctioning pipes with advanced PEX piping, extending from the main water valve at your entry point to each plumbing fixture. This includes installing new shut-off valves and high-quality braided supply tubes. Should you choose to upgrade any fixtures, such as shower valves, this would be the perfect time. Stage 3 – Wall Restoration
Once the plumbing is updated, we move on to restoring the walls. The sections of drywall removed in Stage 1 are carefully replaced. We then apply two layers of drywall compound and sand them down to achieve a smooth, paint-ready surface. All sanding is conducted under our strict dust-free policy, using tools directly connected to our vacuum system to eliminate dust dispersal.
Stage 4 – Texture Refinishing
In the final stage, we focus on the aesthetic restoration of your ceilings and walls. Our skilled technicians will expertly respray textures to match the existing surfaces flawlessly, ensuring there are no signs of the initial incisions. We are equipped to replicate any texture, seamlessly blending the new with the old. Additionally, we address any residual stains or unevenness from past repairs, leaving your home looking as good as new.
